This is a super old post
Was at bangsar to visit my favourite banana leaf rice and saw that there was a LEGO fair in Bangsar Village II and totally went gaga over it
So I started taking photos, luckily I wasnt the only one who was acting like an idiot, there are a couple more people around who was with their huge ass DSLR and macam very pro taking close up shots of the display
ok lar..i am just using my old but reliable nokia N95 to do the job, so please do bear with the picture quality
I've always loved LEGO, just that it's a little too pricey for me to even go down the road of collecting it, and since they are getting more & more creative..there are plenty of themed collection such as Star Wars, Pirates Of Caribbean, Races, Kingdom, Ninjago...and they even have helikopter!! Opps, I meant Harry Potter
Thus I really dont think it's wise for me to even start thinking about it, I guess it will be better for mankind and myself if I just appreciate it from far

i think for once, i'm going to listen to my body's calling
ever since i've started running like a mad man
the lower back muscles never seem to be able to take a break
finally it decided to give up on me
i've been waking up with a broken lower back every morning since last september
as much as i'd hate the fact that my rankings in nike run will be going downhill
i really think it's high time i put running to a halt
and started swimming again last week
maybe it's still too early to tell the differences
but i'm keeping my fingers crossed
and hope that they will recover in no time!
swimming on the other hand, it actually feels pretty good coz of the crazy hot weather lately
the only thing i dont really like about swimming is that i wont feel the sweat even when i'm dead tired from doing it
after all, it is a form of exercise so it doesnt really matter how i do it

on a totally random note, i think i am falling very much in love with ella fitzgerald and she totally rocks my world!

the Black Swan is definitely the most disturbing movie i've ever watched in my entire life
but nonetheless,it is the best performance i've seen of natalie portman
as far as i am concern, i think she should win the Oscar for best actress
the movie revolves around natalie portman as a ballerina whom was chosen to play the role of the White Swan & the Black Swan in Swan Lake
both characters are a total opposite of each other
as being the perfect cast for the White Swan,
natalie portman struggled to fit in the role for the Black Swan
and that's where she started showing symptoms of schizophrenia

i thought the movie was a little boring at the very beginning
but after 15minutes into the movie
i forgot that i was actually watching a movie
instead i felt as though i am witnessing the entire process of her struggling to play the Black Swan
i am still pretty disturbed now
and i do think that this movie is definitely not for those who are mentally weak
but for those who would like to see the other side of natalie portman
or a big fan of natalie portman
or just to watch a awesome piece of work
you should really go check it out

oh no!
i've almost forgotten that i have a blog
though i think there aren't many who are reading
it is still my obligation to continue writing until i die
at least have a couple of posts in every year!

nothing much to shout about the past couple of months
the only thing worth mentioning is the bloody flood in segamat & muar right before cny
i was back home early this year on the 27th of the chinese lunar calender
and rain started pouring that day
no, i did not bring the rain back to segamat
if i can do that, i'll be away in africa helping people instead of sitting here writing this post
whoever that is up there must've been really pissed coz the rain went on for almost 48 hours, or maybe more than that
dad started getting worried as this was exactly what happen 5 years ago during the massive 2006 flood
so he made a call to muar and told my uncle that it is time to move my granny somewhere safer
as the tradition is, muar will always have a horrible flood right after the water subside from segamat
dad's prediction was spot on, on the 28th of the chinese lunar calender's evening
my aunt's place in kg abdullah was hit by the flood
segamat slowly became an island where no cars can go in or out
the yong peng's way was cut off, the batu anam's way was cut off and the jementah's way was cut off too
i guess me & my family was considered pretty lucky as our area was not affected by the flood at all
i guess this will make the houses in IOI more valuable later on when all the people in kg abdullah is fedup of the bloody and decides to move away

we were when the water subsided a little on the 29th of the chinese lunar calender, the yong peng's way was the only one that has resumed traffic, we went over to help my aunt clean up her place
but my grandparents house in muar weren't that lucky
it was practically soaked in a 9feet water for almost a week!
oh damn i F*&%ing hate this flood!
there goes my precious chinese new year which is one of my favourite holiday!!

whatever the government promised after the 2006 massive flood were all bullshits
i wonder where did all the money that they claimed they spent went?

just signed up for the Penang Bridge International Marathon today
next is to get a hotel room
i am considering the recently opened Hard Rock Hotel at Batu Ferringhi
i've always like staying at Batu Ferringhi
but then again, it is pretty far from Queensbay Mall
where i am suppose to report in for the run at 305am in the morning
another better location would be Eastin Hotel
which is just right opposite Queensbay Mall

training started today which i managed to clock my furthest distance
22.15km in 2hrs, 48mins & 18secs
it was to my surprise that i manage to go this far
coz i had a calf muscle cramp earlier today due to my own stupidity

and stop using my work as an excuse

my flight to Chengdu is timed at 6pm later
need to go fetch apple and bear bear from kota damansara and bandar manjalara
brother passed me 2 tables of viagra yesterday
i can take a quarter of it to help my blood circulation if i have altitude sickness, has been drinking HongJinTien brewed tea for the past one week
i think i am well-prepared for this trip
i hope everything will turn out right

Tibet 2010 (I)

i am counting down 4 more days before flying to Chengdu
which i will later take another flight into Lhasa, the capital of Tibet
or commonly known as The Roof of The World

i have never been this worried before in any other trips of mine
solely because i will be venturing into a place that has an average elevation of 4900m above sea level
and if i have not been to mount kk 2 weeks ago
i'd prolly won't even know that i have altitude sickness
so now, here i am
being really paranoid, i am drinking water brewed using the chinese herbs called HongJinTien (紅景天)
it is believe that if i start drinking it 10 days before my trip
it will help my body adjust to better acclimatization
tried to look for the capsules but apparently it is not sold here in malaysia

i feel like my trip is very much depending on chinese herbs and modern medicine to make it a better one
imagine the checklist of meds : viagra, lotsa paracetamols, fabricol, cinnarizine and a few other drugs that i am still looking for

here are some tips i found online, that claim to be able to help in curing altitude sickness
- Do exercise to improve your fitness before coming to Tibet.
- Try to avoid catching a cold (frequent hand-washing, etc.).
- Make sure to get a good night's sleep the night before flying to Lhasa.
- Avoid strenuous activity during your first day in Tibet.
- When arriving in the airport in Lhasa, walk slowly, take deep breaths. Take time to acclimatize.
- Ascend to higher altitudes gradually. DO NOT ASCEND ANY HIGHER if you begin feeling ill.
- Prepare AMS medication, in accordance with a doctor's advice.
- Seek advice from people who have similar experiences. The most important thing is that you should never be nervous or worried about your trip. Regard the trip to Tibet like a trip to any other cities. You should always be optimistic.
- You need to bring enough water or drinks and fruits. Snacks with high caloric content, like chocolate, will come in handy.
- It quite often happens that people feel short of breath. If it is not serious, please do not rely on oxygen equipment all the time so that you can acclimate yourself to the high altitude as early as possible.
- Do not take showers or bathes too frequently especially on your first night in Tibet. This will help you avoid catching severe colds.

despite all these, i am keeping my fingers cross
i hope that this tiny body of mine
can live up to it and let me enjoy the trip
i dont wanna be flying back to Chengdu within the first 3 days of the trip

Itinerary & Details

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa
Transfer to your hotel and get settled.

Day 2: Lhasa
In the morning, visit the Potala Palace , the greatest monumental structure in all of Tibet . Also visit the Jokhang Temple , which is located in Barkhor square in Lhasa . The Barkhor is a famous shopping street filled with goods and souvenirs from Tibet , Nepal , and India . Pilgrims from all over Tibet visit the Barkhor to pray in front of the Jokhang.

Day 3: Lhasa
Visit the Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama.In the afternoon, visit Sera monastery, where you can watch monks debate in the courtyard.

Day 4: Lhasa – Yamdrok Lake – Gyantse - – Shigatse (3800 m)
Beginning your adventure in the Himalayas , drive to Shigatse. Along the way cross over the Kamba la (4794m) and the Karo la passes (5010m).which boast spectacular views. After Kamba la, arrive at Yamdrok Lake , a holy turquoise-colored lake with stunning scenery. Stay the night in Shigatse.

Day 5: Shigatse – Shegar (New Tingri)
In the morning, see the giant Buddha in the famous Tashilunpo monastery. Then head to Shegar (4350m) over Tso-La pass (4500m and Gyatso-La pass (5252m). On the way, make an excursion to visit Sakya Monastery (4280m). In the afternoon arrive in Shegar. Overnight in Shegar.

Day 6: Shegar – Rongbuk monastery – Everest Base Camp
After passing through scenic valleys and driving over rocky mountains, you will reach Rongbuk Monastery, where you will have a fabulous view of Mt. Everest . Rongbuk monastery is the highest monastery in the world. Rongbuk Monastery to Everest is about 8km, and along the way you there are spectacular views of Mt. Everest . You can either take a two-hour hike or take a bus to Everest Base Camp. Stay the night in a Tibetan family-run tent guesthouse.

Day 7: EBC – Shigatse
Drive over two high mountain passes with great views of the Himalayas . Along the way, stop for pictures at any beautiful location that inspires you.

Day 8: Shigatse - Namtso
Drive up a mountain road to the holy turquoise lake Namtso . At the lake, enjoy tea with the nomads, try riding a yak, and walk around the rocky mountain on the lake shore. Stay the night in a tent guesthouse run by nomads.

Day 9: Namtso - Nakchu
Nagchu is a town on the edge of the northern Changtang plateau. On the western outskirts of the town are Zhabten Monastery & Samtenling Nunnery. There are also markets in town where you might see nomads trading.

Day 10: Nakchu Dolma Valley - Lhasa
Drive across the plateau, over the mountains, and back into Lhasa valley. Spend some time relaxing, walking around, or shopping.

Day 11: Depart Lhasa
Escort to the airport or train station in Lhasa .
